to the Anthropology
Forms and Fees: We encourage applicants for either the MA or the PhD program in Anthropology to use the online application process. Application requires a $40.00 application fee that may be paid online by credit card. Alternatively, you may fill out a paper application form and mail the form (original plus two photocopies) with a personal check, cashier’s check, or money order for $40.00, made out to SIU and payable to a U.S. bank. Paper applications and payments may be mailed to the Graduate Secretary, Anthropology Dept, SIUC, 1000 Faner Dr Rm 3525, Carbondale IL 62901. Statements and Letters: In addition to the application form, we require each applicant to submit a Statement of Academic and Professional Goals. We also require three (3) letters of recommendation (please give a copy of this form to each of your recommenders). Your Statement of Academic and Professional Goals, and the letters of recommendation, should be sent directly to the Anthropology department at the address shown above. Scores and Transcripts: Applicants from the U.S. must take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE); we must receive an original (not photocopy) score report. Every applicant must have an official transcript sent to the department from every undergraduate and graduate institution where you have taken courses. Additional Information for International Students: Please read the Graduate School instructions for international applicants and include with your application a filled-out copy of the Financial Statement for Graduate International Students. Applicants must include a photocopy of your passport with your application, and the name on your application must match the name on the passport. Information

and Professional Data form (do not send additional
transcripts for item 14; ignore item 16) , although positions
for first-year students are very limited.
