Heather Carey (MA, Archaeology) spent last fall
collecting data for her thesis concerning miniature Mississippian
vessels. As well, she held an
assistantship with Dr.
Paul Welch, providing support in his analysis of prehistoric ceramics
from the
Shiloh site in Tennessee. Heather is now writing her thesis and working
as an archaeologist for the U.S. Forest Service. She
will be presenting a paper entitled
“Mississippian Miniature Vessels: More Than Mere Child’s Play” at the
annual
Southeastern Archaeological Conference in early November.
