| Jason González (Ph.D., archaeology) directed a
site mapping and excavation program for the second season at the site of
Ixno’ha under the MRP Blue Creek Regional Political Ecology Project in
northwestern Belize from May to August, 2003. For the Society of American
Archaeology Meetings in Milwaukee, April 2003, Jason chaired a session
titled “Multiscalar Perspectives on Maya Settlement and Frontiers”. He
presented a paper titled “Cultural Landscape, Cultural Identity:
Settlement at Ixno’ha Belize”. He also co-authored a second paper with
Hayley Kanipe titled “Small Sites versus Large Sites: Questioning Maya
Political and Economic Settlement Relationships”. Jason also organized a
sponsored forum with Lauren Bigelow titled, “Students get Involved!
Participation in Archaeology through National Organization”.
Jason was elected to the Executive Board, Student Seat of the American Anthropology Association. His term begins November 23, 2003. |
