| Matthew
Nowak (MA, physical/biological anthropology)
is a second
year M.A. student. His interests are in
comparative functional anatomy, 3D morphometric analysis, and primate
positional behavior. Last spring (2005)
he presented a poster at the seventy-fourth annual AAPA meetings on the
comparative functional anatomy of the ankle and foot in hominoids. In addition, this past fall (2005) he
delivered a paper presentation at the second annual MPIG meetings on
the same subject. Currently
Matt is working on his
M.A. thesis analysis, looking at the function of the ankle and foot in
captive
African apes during specific positional behaviors. This
past summer (2005) Matt completed
research at the Lincoln
Park,
Brookfield,
and
Columbus Zoos totaling 270 hours of observation and nearly 12,000
instantaneous
samples. He hopes to complete his M.A.
this upcoming summer (2006).
