Conclusion

The existence of significant, prehistoric, sheet erosion at the site was not appreciated until 1998.  It now appears that large parts of the site eroded by as much as 30 cm during its occupation.  Erosion of this magnitude sharply reduces the possibility that intact sheet midden or all but the deepest of extramural features exist in the eroded portions of the site.  While this erosion reduces the archaeological potential of much of the site, erosion outside the prehistoric houses does have an "up" side: the "prehistoric pedestalling" of the houses makes them far more visible than they would otherwise be.
