| Dental Hygiene Faculty Activities | ||
| Faith Miller, Assistant Professor in Dental Hygiene, has been invited to present a continuing education course to Iowa dental hygienists on the topic of Forensic Odontology. Professor Miller has participated in a number of courses, workshops and seminars in the field of Forensics. Drs. Sandie Beebe and Charla Lautar presented in Washington, DC, at the American Public Health Association meeting, and Sherri Lukes presented at the Midwest Farm Workers Stream Forum meeting. Joan Davis is working with dental hygiene community college programs to integrate tobacco cessation into the curriculum. Both she and Dr. Sandy Maurizio are working with the University of Illinois Chicago and the Illinois Department of Public Health to educate dental teams concerning oral cancer and tobacco cessation. A paper by Dr. Luciano Debeljuk entitled “Seasonal Changes of SP
and NKA in Frontal Cortex, Striatum and Testes in the Rat: Role of Maternal
Pineal Gland” recently was published in the periodical Peptides.
Also, Dr. Debeljuk and Associate Professor Melinda LaGarce from the College’s
Architecture and Interior Design Department, are conducting research on
the effects that light and color have on enzymes, hormones and behavior. |
