CAPE COAST is the capital of the Central Region. Participants attend lectures at the University of Cape Coas t and have a two-day home-stay with host families to experience the daily lives of Ghanaians first hand. They also have audience with the paramount chief of Cape Coast , a traditional ruler. They tour two slave castles, Elmina Castle and Cape Coast Castle . In each of these castles, they have lectures and discussions on the nature of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and Colonialism. They also attend a two-hour performance of traditional Ghanaian music and dances from all nine regions of Ghana at the Pan-African Festival Cultural Center .
