KUMASI is the capital of the Ashanti Region and also capital of the Ashanti Kingdom . Participants attend lectures at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology . They visit craft-Kente, Adinkra, bronze and gold-smith-villages in the 30-mile radius of Kumasi , learning hands-on how to make, for example, Adinkra cloth prints. Participants also visit the Anokyekrom Cultural Center and Museum and tour the Manhyia Palace , the official residence of the Ahanti king, Asantehene. They visit the wax museum of Ashanti kings and queen-mothers and have a lecturer of Ashanti tradition and history.
