Each summer, the CAI in collaboration with the Department of Anthropology offers an archaeology field methods course (Anth 496). This program offers full-time instruction in archaeological excavation and laboratory techniques. Students are selected to participate in the program based on their previous coursework and fieldwork and motivation toward a professional career in archaeology. In 2008 the course is offered as two separate 4-week-long, 3-credit-hour courses. Students may register for either or both sessions. The first session runs May 12 through June 6; the second session runs June 9 through July 3. The upcoming SIUC 2008 Field School will be held at the Kincaid site, a Mississippian mound center located in Massac County, Illinois.
