The Silver Maple Syrup project is a research endeavor of Jim Zaczek, Andrew Carver, Jean Mangun, Karl Williard, of the Department of Forestry, and John Preece, Department of Plant, Soil, and Agricultural Systems, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. This project is supported by the C2000 Sustainable Agriculture Program, Illinois Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Land and Water Resources and the Office of Research and Development Administration, Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. The purpose of the project is to determine and demonstrate the economic and ecological suitability of producing maple syrup in Illinois.
