As a campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity International, the Southern Illinois University Carbondale group is a dedicated team of hardworking students who want to make a difference in their community and world. In conjunction with the Jackson/Union County Habitat for Humanity Affiliate, the SIUC team helps fight the struggle to improve housing conditions in the Southern Illinois Area. Volunteers work along side the professionals and learn constructions tasks that range from installing siding to affixing a roof onto newly built house. The leadership team is a committed group of students who work with the county board members and are involved in all aspects of the housing process. This dynamic group serves as an ongoing aid to the community of the Southern Illinois region.
