Every LSA Carbondale member
should take the opportunity to meet our fellow linguists of LSA Edwardsville.
As the journey may be an unfamiliar and confusing one, here are on-campus
directions to get to the Edwardsville Linguistics office the next time
you are at SIU Edwardsville.
- From Edwardsville Campus’ National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center (you can’t miss it), go a little over half a mile toward University Park Drive. You should take note that Edwardsville is proud to have the only corn-to-ethanol pilot facility in the world that fully emulates both a wet mill and dry-grind commercial fuel ethanol production plant.
- After reflecting on the value of wet mill fuel, stroll left down University Drive for about three miles.
- At this point in time, University Drive becomes Illinois Route 157, and you’ve another mile to go.
- Follow Route 157 for about half a mile.
- Go left on Keebler Road for—this is a long one—five miles. Wave at the campus elves in the big tree you’ll see on the right.
- Turn left on East Wickliffe Avenue, but not for more than a tenth of a mile.
- Quickly turn right onto Vandalia Street, and continue for three-tenths of a mile.
- Turn right to follow Route 159 for about five miles.
- Turn left on U.S. Interstate 64, and follow for about forty miles.
- Take the ramp marked Illinois Route 127, and turn right at the end of the ramp.
- Continue for a little over three miles, following the route through town.
- When arriving at Illinois Route 15, turn left, and continue for about nine miles.
- Then, turn onto U.S. Highway 51 for about thirty-five miles.
- When nearing the campus, this main road will have a small fork pointing south toward the campus flagpole. This fork is South University Avenue. Follow it to the flagpole.
- At the flagpole, turn right onto West Grand Avenue. Take the next left.
- This brings you to a circular drive known as Faner Circle, named for the same person as Carbondale’s campus. The Faner Building, similar in structure to the building with the same name in Carbondale, extends southwardly from this point.
- The Linguistics office is located in room 3234 of this building, also the same room number as Carbondale . Stop in and say “hi” to your Edwardsville compatriots!
