Welcome!
The upcoming months are going to be packed
with excitement as you begin your education here at Southern
Illinois University Carbondale. You will meet new people,
go new places, and try new things. The Recreational
Sports and Services staff hope that the Student Recreation Center
(SRC) will be one of those new places you explore.
As an enrolled SIUC student, you are eligible
to use the facility and participate in its programs. Your
SRC fee has already been included in your University fees
when you enrolled for classes. With the exception of paying
fees for certain programs, all you have to do is come to the
SRC or any of its facilities and have fun.
As the semester progresses, you will be busy
and spend less time recreating. Dont let recreation
and exercise become a luxury. You will be more successful
in your studies if you take time each day to recreate.
Recreation can be any physical activity that
helps you to become stronger, faster, or just to have fun.
This gives your mind time to rest and prepare for homework
and classes. An equal balance of school and recreation helps
relieve stress. So start now!
No matter what sport or activity youre interested in,
the Student Recreation Center has the right one for you! With
dozens of programs and activities, there is always something
to do. Look through the following list of activities and find
those that interest you and then come in, show up, and start
having fun.

Recreation, call Kathy Hollister at 618-453-1267.

Helpful
Hints:
1) Never go through the turnstile with another person. If
you have any problems getting through the turnstile, go
to the Information Desk on the upper level of the Student
Recreation Center.
2) You must always have your
SIUC student ID to get into the Student Recreation Center
or to use its other facilities, such as the Lake-on-the-Campus
Beach or Boat Docks at Thompson Point.
3) Everyone entering the swimming
pool area must wear a swimsuit. Only towels are allowed
on the pool deck; all other articles must be kept in a locker
(be sure to use a padlock to secure your belongings).
4) An equipment desk is located
on the lower level of the SRC. Your SIUC student ID allows
you to check out any type of equipment you may need to play
basketball, badminton, squash, etc. for free and also make
court reservations for racquetball, squash, and tennis.
5) Locker rental and towel
service are available for a minimal charge. Locks are supplied
