Welcome to REACH, the undergraduate research program at SIUC.
Why do research? For undergraduates, one advantage of attending a comprehensive research university such as SIUC is the opportunity to participate in research, scholarly, and creative activities, working one-on-one with faculty and graduate students. "Research" may be conducted in any discipline, from science to the humanities; it is defined as self-directed inquiry, discovery, and creation of new knowledge and new perspectives about the world.
Undergraduates are integral to research at SIUC. They take part by working as undergraduate research assistants, doing special class projects, taking independent-research credit hours, winning REACH Awards, participating in SIUC's McNair Scholars program or University Honors program, winning on- or off-campus research internships, and more. The REACH program promotes and publicizes these and other ways that undergrads can get involved in research.

On this site: Learn about REACH Awards and our annual Undergraduate Research Forum. Get copies of REACH publications. Meet some undergraduate researchers, get a recap of recent research news, and read about some faculty projects that include undergrads as part of the team. Check out the other funding opportunities and research resources we've compiled. Find out about SIUC's research centers, many of which work with students.
Through research, many undergrads at SIUC are gaining invaluable experience for the future, whatever their discipline. We invite you to join them.
