| "Identifying Preferences and Creating Motivation to Learn for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders" is designed to offer assistance in how to teach children with autism more effectively and prevent challenging behavior. This DVD explains the importance of designing instruction to incorporate stimuli that children prefer to increase their motivation to respond appropriately. Four methods to assess childrenÕs preferences are explained and demonstrated with children with autism. Data from the assessments are interpreted. The preference assessment methods demonstrated are:
• Single stimulus preference assessment
• Paired stimulus preference assessment
• Multiple stimulus preference assessment
• Free operant preference assessment The DVD explains how to incorporate assessed preferences in instruction, provide choice opportunities during instruction, and use preferred stimuli as response consequences. The DVD also demonstrates the differences in childrenÕs performance when preferred versus nonpreferred stimuli are used as response consequences.
