Students interested in becoming substance abuse counselors should consider this option. The course of study is accredited by the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association, Inc. (IAODAPCA). Students who complete a four-course sequence and a 500 hour internship are eligible to sit for the examination as a Substance Abuse Counselor in Illinois. Students should discuss this option with Dr. John Benshoff.
