The 2002 "Outstanding CDS Alumni" recipient was Michelle Vaughn. Mrs. Vaughn graduated from SIUC with her B.S. in 1991 and her M.S. in 1992.  She has been a speech-language pathologist at the Center for Comprehensive Services since 1994.  She was named supervisor of speech, language, and cognitive services in 2000.  Mrs. Vaughn has presented at meetings across the U.S. and has supervised many SIUC student interns.

Approximately 20 guests attended an appreciation luncheon at Giant City Lodge.  Following lunch, Mrs. Vaughn presented on the topic of "Functional Cognitive Rehabilitation following Traumatic Brain Injury".
