What is a local NSSLHA chapter?
A local chapter of NSSLHA consists of undergraduate and graduate students at a single
university, interested in CDS and the profession of Speech-Language Pathology. What
is the purpose of the local chapter?
- To encourage professional interest among university students in the study of normal and
disordered human communication behavior.
- To assist university and local organizations interested in speech, hearing, and language
behavior and disorders.
- To provide professional information.
- To provide a vehicle for student representation in matters of professional concern.
Who is eligible?
Any undergraduate or graduate student interested in the field of Communication Disorders
and Sciences.
What are the benefits?

Does membership in the local chapter require membership in the national organization?
No. Membership in the national organization is independent from membership in a local
chapter (and vice versa).
What is the cost?
SIUC chapter dues are $10.00 per year.
National organization dues are $45.00 per year.
How do you join?
To join the SIUC chapter, simply attend one of the NSSLHA meetings and pay your dues. To
join the national organization, you must fill out an application and pay the yearly
membership fee. Applications may be found at the Oasis in the basement of Wham.
