The program provides consultation, education and health promotion services to SIUC students through programs and activities designed to maximize health and well-being while in school. Good habits established today can lower the risks associated with a lifetime of poor nutrition and inactivity. Services are provided by a registered dietitians and graduate students and include:

4. Information and Resources on Many Areas of Nutrition & Fitness
Topics addressed by the Nutrition Program:
1. Weight management: Discover the secrets behind successful weight management, such as techniques for avoiding weight gain and the reasons why diets don’t work.
2. General Health: Learn how proper nutrition and physical activity can improve the quality of life by increasing energy, decreasing risk for certain diseases, and providing an overall sense of well being.
3. Eating Disorders (The Eating Disorder Outpatient Program): See the Eating Disorder Outpatient Program.
4. Sports Nutrition: Learn how to enhance your athletic performance through proper nutrition. Common questions are dealt with, such as: Do athletes need additional protein? Does carbo loading work? What’s the best pre-competition meal?
5. Body Image: Issues with body image are discussed, such as how our body image develops, how it is influenced, is it realistic, and ways to overcome negative body image.
6. Meal planning: Learn quick and easy ways to prepare nutritious meals as well as how to eat out healthfully.
7. Medical Nutrition Therapy: Learn to control conditions such as diabetes, cholesterol, hypertension, fatigue, and lactose intolerance with nutrition.
