FINAL CHECKS AND PAPER WORK

Dear Students:

As the time draws near for our departure and the semester begins to get busier, we thought it would be easier if all documents and checks were sent to Paul D¡¯Angelo at the address below. We are preparing a folder for each student; therefore, if you have not sent us a copy of the cover of your Passport and your health and safety questionnaire (see web site) do so as soon as you are able.

We will have the Visa information on line very soon. You must send the Visa information Fed Ex or Priority Mail (tracking number) your Passport, forms, etc. to the appropriate India Embassy Office by October 5, 2007. We will update you.

Best,

Deb, Dhru, and Paul

Dear Study Aboard to India Students,

We wanted to remind you of a few items and ask your opinion on one planning piece of the program:

A reminder to apply for a Passport today if you have not done so already. Our faculty plan to discuss the Visa application with you in the near future;

The CDC recommends several immunizations and medical preparations for a trip to India. Review the CDC link on the web site and then speak with your doctor and Health Service on Campus. Remember Hepatitis A and B are given in a series over a span of six months. Those taking prescription medications should have an adequate supply for the trip. CDC and experience recommends a personal medical packet containing over-the counter medication a consideration for each participant. The web site has a link to a Health and Safety Questionnaire-please fill this out and return to our office at SIUC. We comply with HIPPA.

The Faculty are planning a required reading list and some (simple) pre-departure assignments for both Undergraduate and Graduate students---watch the web site;

We are developing a Suggested Bibliography. Some students may have ideas for articles and books. These suggestions do not have to be specifically about India and Social Work, but can pertain to International Social Work, Intentional Research, International Policy, etc. We will take your suggestions under advisement.

Listed below are several themes for the program. At times, we may divide the students into groups based on an interest area. Please rank your first three choices and e-mail your responses to us-use the e-mail address on this e-letter. Note there is a place for you to suggest a theme:
