Road Biking Routes
The Lakes Ride A common ride in Southern Illinois that passes Little Grassy and Devils Kitchen Lake, plus you get to explore a bit of Giant City. The ride is about 26 miles and is not very hilly.
Wine Trail The famous wine trail is a 36 mile ride that takes you by Pomona and Von Jakob wineries. A good part of the ride is within the Shawnee National Forest, so the scenery is awesome. These are back country roads, so bring a spare and patch kit.
Spillway Rd. Time Trials When the weather cooperates, we do a time trial on Spillway road, which involves either a 10 mile or 15 mile distance.

Running Routes
Murphysboro Lake Great interval training at M-boro lake. This four mile road has six steep hills that will work those under-utilized muscles.
Lincoln Drive and Campus Lake The SIUC campus is great for running, since there are few intersections and low traffic. The Lincoln Drive loop and Campus lake loop add upto more than 4 miles of scenic asphalt. Also, the campus is lit all night long (not the campus lake), so you can get in some late runs if desired.
Trail Running Routes
Rocky Bluff Trail A nice loop in the woods that follows a creek and passes under and over a seasonal waterfall. If you catch it at the right time, there are beautiful wildflowers in the spring that grow on the rocks. This is a great place to run with your dogs.
Cedar Lake So you want to run some hills eh? Well, the Cedar Lake Trailhead off McGuire Rd. offers extended and steep climbs. There is no loop out here, so plan to turn back at your mid-point. If you keep going, you could be running for over 20 miles, so don't expect to see the end.
SIUC Cross Country Track The SIUC Cross Country Team has their own little track in the woods/grass. This trail is about 2 miles, so combine it with some campus road running or do multiple laps to get a lengthy workout.
