Taking Action to Conserve a Species
The Pintail Action Group is a cooperative group of public and private interests dedicated to the conservation of the Northern Pintail. The pintail, which was once one of the most common waterfowl species in North America, has declined over the past several decades due to changes in agricultural land-use practices.

If pintail numbers are to recover, it will take a massive human effort to rehabilitate and preserve habitats. Therefore, several concerned organizations have joined together to create the Pintail Action Group—and take action to preserve a species before populations reach critical lows.

Members of the Pintail Action Group include Ducks Unlimited Canada and Mexico, Ducks Unlimited, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Geological Survey, Canadian Wildlife Service, California Waterfowl Association, California Fish and Game, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and several universities. Together they are identifying and addressing research needs and working with landowners to rehabilitate and preserve pintail habitat.
