SIUC holds mid-year commencement ceremonies

 CARBONDALE,
Ill. - Two mid-year commencement ceremonies were held at Southern
Illinois University Carbondale on Saturday, Dec. 13. Both ceremonies
took place at the SIU Arena.
A morning ceremony recognized degree candidates from the colleges
of Agricultural Sciences, Applied Sciences and Arts, Business and
Administration, Education and Human Services and Engineering. Doris
Rottschalk, a 1969 graduate and member of the SIU Alumni
Association's board of directors, welcomed candidates and their
families. She also is a former president of the board.
A ceremony in the afternoon recognized degree candidates from the
colleges of Liberal Arts, Mass Communication and Media Arts, and
Science, the Graduate School and the School of Law. Brian Schaffner,
a 1984 graduate and member of the Alumni Association board, welcomed
candidates and their families. He represents the College of Mass
Communication and Media Arts on the board.
SIUC Chancellor Walter V. Wendler spoke at both ceremonies.
