Overview:
Entitled Integrating Written, Oral, Visual and Electronic Communication Across the Curriculum: A Guide for Faculty and Graduate Teaching Assistants, this guide was developed for use by those instructors on campus interested in integrating communication-intensive elements into their courses or for those who would like to learn more about what doing so would entail. It is also designed for those who haven't made up their minds about whether doing so would improve their courses and student learning. It is our hope that busy college teachers will find the guide useful.
First, a few tips. The guide can be viewed and printed in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF), which requires the free Acrobat Reader plug-in. We have also prepared it in a hypertext version so that you can read it using your browser alone. This version offers enhanced content, with links (where appropriate) to other discussions within the document or to other sites at SIUC or elsewhere that may provide further information, elaboration, or examples.
We consider the guide a document always under revision, so we appreciate your comments and suggestions. If you have ideas for additional content, sample assignments, etc., please share them. People from other universities are welcome to use this guide, provided only that you properly acknowledge the source.
Chris Costello conducted the research used to prepare the guide. He and David Blakesley were the writers. David Blakesley prepared the manuscript for web publication.
