Since the early 1970s, researchers have paid increasing attention to the premises, virtues, and limitations of integrating communication-intensive activities into the university curriculum. Some people will be surprised to find not only that there are many useful pedagogical models and teaching strategies to adopt (or adapt), but also that there are detailed studies of the process of implementing WAC itself. While it may not be necessary for faculty to be familiar with all of this research, we believe that it is important to let people know that it exists, that the CAC Program at SIUC is not proceeding blindly, and that many people have already formulated good answers to the many questions that will arise as we go forward.
On this page, you will find some links to the research on WAC and CAC that has been published to the Web, links to bibliographies useful for tracking down answers to particular questions, and information regarding the availability of good sources. |
