Are you ready?

Have you completed (or will you complete within 5 months) a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD Program)?

Do you have an overall undergraduate grade point average of not less than 3.0 (A=4.0)?

Is your grade point average in DPD Program courses 3.0 or better (A=4.0)?

Is your Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score 800 or higher on combined verbal and quantitative sections?

If you answered, "yes" to these questions, you are ready to apply for admission.


Are You from the United States of America?

Everyone (U.S. citizens and non-citizens alike) must complete a Didactic Program in Dietetics to apply to SIU's master's degree and dietetic internship program. If you are not from the United States of America, please click on Didactic Program in Dietetics ("DPD Program") link.


What goes in your application packet?

Letter of Interest for completing a master's degree in food and nutrition with a concentration in community nutrition (i.e., health promotion/disease prevention). Describe your career goals upon completing program. Two pages maximum (typed, size 12 font)

Supervised Practice Program Application. Use standard application prepared by American Dietetic Association (ADA). It can be ordered from ADA at www.eatright.com/catalog/cat.php?CatNum=0406

Three Recommendations. Appropriate forms are included on disk you ordered from ADA. An academic professor or advisor should complete at least one of 3 recommendations

Applicant Release Form. This form can be found at the end of the Application Newsletter.

Official Transcripts from each college and university attended

A DPD Program Verification Statement (or "Verification of Intent to Complete") signed by Director of your DPD Program

GRE Scores. (Current within last 5 years). Designate SIUC-Food and Nutrition Program, Mailcode 4317, Carbondale, IL 62901-4317 to receive an original of your GRE results

Financial Statement Form for International Graduate Students (if applicant is not a United States citizen). This form can be obtained at http://www.siu.edu/gradschl/forms.htm

TOEFL Score 550 or Higher (students whose native language is not English)


When are postmark deadlines for applications?

February 14, 2007 for August 2007 entry (fall semester)

Yes, There is a $40 application fee once you are matched.  Don't send an application fee now.
