Racetrack Manager Assistant

 

A Racetrack Manager Assistant helps to organize all events that take place on the grounds of the racetrack involving the horses, people associated with the race horses, owners, and trainers. The person in this position is responsible for horsemen relations, racers, and payroll for the racetrack support personnel and backside operations management for racers. The racetrack manager assistant also oversees such activities as early closing nominations, purchasing, and contracts. The Racetrack Manager Assistant must have an intimate knowledge of horse racing, plus computer skills as well as very good interpersonal relations abilities.

 

The qualifications for a Racetrack Manager Assistant vary based on the place of employment, and much of the training is on-the-job. Prior experience in other areas of racing or racetrack management is very important. The demands of the job will vary from track-to-track and from season-to-season. Not all positions are year-round, so many people in these positions will rotate among racetracks during each individual track's active seasons. Working hours may be unusual, and often involves evenings and weekends. The average income range for a Racetrack Management Assistant is between $30,000 to $50,000 per year.
