Korea Travel Scholarships
ISEP is accepting nominations from U.S. member institutions for the Korea Travel Scholarships. These scholarships are for participants going on exchange during Fall 2004 to Ajou, Ewha, Keimyung, Korea, and Yonsei universities. Award criteria include: genuine interest in Korea, strong academic background, and financial need.

Fulbright-Hays Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship Program--Deadline October 20

The Department of Education's (DOE) Office of Postsecondary Education issued a notice requesting applications for the FY2004 Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship Program, which provides opportunities for graduate students to engage in full-time dissertation research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies. Priority will be given to projects that focus on one or more of the following areas: Africa, East Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands, South Asia, the Near East, East Central Europe and Eurasia, and the Western Hemisphere (Canada, Central and South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean). Freeman Awards for Study in Asia

Amount: $5,000 for one semester; $7,000 for academic year

Eligibility: undergraduate students who have applied or have been accepted to a study abroad program in Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, or Thailand; must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; awards are based on need

JAPAN

Association of Teachers of Japanese (ATJ) Bridging Scholarship

Amount: ranges from $2,500 to $4,000 depending on length of study program in Japan

Eligibility: undergraduate students majoring in any field of study and attending any recognized exchange or independent program in Japan; must be a US citizen or permanent resident
