The following semester-length programs are arranged in cooperation between SIU and the host university. Most of these host universities are accustomed to accommodating students from this university. The advantage of applying for one of these programs is, unlike an exchange, you do not need to compete with other students for placement. Scholarships are available for several programs.

The International Studies in Japan (ISJP) program is located in Tainai City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. ISJP offers accelerated Japanese and classes in Japanese culture and society. This program is for beginning to intermediate students of Japanese.
Located in the Chubu region, Nagoya University offers a program for the study of Japanese, Asian Studies, and courses in a number of majors. Classes are taught in English or Japanese. NUPACE is a competitive program for serious students. Nagoya operates solely on the Japanese academic calendar. This exchange is for intermediate to advanced students of Japanese.
Kansai Gaidai is located in the city of Hirakata, in Osaka prefecture. The Asian Studies Program, established in 1972, welcomes over 500 competitively selected students who represent about 40 countries and regions. It offers a variety of courses relevant to Japan and Asia, taught by experienced faculty members. All courses, except Japanese language courses, are taught in English. Semester or full academic year enrollment is offered. This exchange is for intermediate to advanced students of Japanese.
Meiji is one of the leading universities in Japan. Students wishing to enroll must be able to pass level 2 or 3 of the Japanese Proficiency test. Located in Tokyo, Meiji University has 7 schools and 3 campuses. This exchange is for advanced students of Japanese.
A Portuguese colony for over 400 years, Macau is an interesting mix of Chinese and Portuguese culture. Programs range from art and philosophy to law, business, and more. Classes are taught in Chinese, Portuguese, and English. This program is unique and affordable.

Swansea offers a variety of programs and internships. This university, surrounded by beautiful landscape and ocean, attracts over 150 American students per year. This "City by the Sea" has a population of 230,000 with modern architecture and facilities.
The Fachhochschule Furtwangen (University of Applied Sciences) focuses on preparing the student for the job market. Classes involve less theory, and more hands-on experience with smaller class sizes. The school has 7 academic departments and 2800 students. The college also has an International Business Management program taught in English for international students.
The University of Applied Sciences Vorarlberg is located in the city of Dornbirn in the westernmost portion of Austria. Dornbirn is near Lake Constanz, Switzerland, Germany and Liechtenstein. This highly respected institution offers degrees in several areas. Currently, SIUC exchanges students with the Business Process and Project Management and Intermedia (multimedia) programs. SIUC students may participate in the fifth semester of each of these programs which is offered in English. Students fluent in German have the option of participating in other semesters.
Experience Europe through the International Studies in Austria program offered in cooperation with Salzburg College. With semester and year abroad options, Salzburg College offers SIUC students a broad curriculum taught in English including courses in business, history, political science, communications, art history, music, studio art, and photography. No background in German is required. Students live with families. Field trips through Germany, the Salzburg region and Vienna are included. Internships are also available in business.
Groupe ESC Grenoble offers an unusual opportunity for students to take courses in English at a French institution. Some of the courses available include: International Business; International Finance and International Marketing. Grenoble is located in the mountainous regions of eastern France, near Italy and Switzerland.
English language courses are available in entrepreneurship, marketing and management; accounting and finance; economics; economic geography; law; informatics (information science); Swedish economy, culture and language. Additional courses are available in Swedish. Jonkoping is an attractive, friendly city of 115,000 on the shores of Lake Vattern in southern Sweden.
