Federal Work-Study Graduate Assistantship Based on financial need as determined from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Must also meet Department's eligibility criteria for selecting graduate assistants. Tuition and monthly stipend. Dollar amount varies, but is limited by a student's financial need as determined from a FAFSA. Major Department or other units on campus. Students should file a FAFSA and place their name on the FWS-GA list at the Graduate School when their Student Aid Report is received.

Deadline varies. Check with units. Number of FWS-GA positions are very limited. Mail the FAFSA as soon after January 1 as possible.

Graduate Fellowship Based on scholarship. Offered to students at both the master's & doctoral level. No service required. Tuition and monthly stipend. Dollar amount varies. Graduate School and Major Department.

Dissertation Research Assistantship Award Based on scholarship and potential for completing a dissertation of merit as indicated by dissertation prospectus. Service required. Tuition and monthly stipend. Dollar amount varies. Graduate School and Major Department.

Graduate Dean's Fellowship Offered to traditionally underserved individuals who have overcome social, cultural or economic conditions that have adversely affected educational progress. Provides two years of financial assistance for both master's and doctoral students. Service is required during the second year. Tuition and monthly stipend. Dollar amount varies. Graduate School and Major Department.

DFI - Diversifying Higher Education Faculty in Illinois Offered to students traditionally underrepresented in higher eduction faculty and staff positions. Applicants must be admitted to a Master's or Doctoral degree program, be a U.S.citizen or permanent resident, be a registered voter in Illinois with three or more years of residency or have received a high school diploma or undergraduate degree from an Illinois institution, and can demonstrate financial need. Tuition, fees, and monthly stipend. Graduate School and Major Department.

PROMPT - Proactive Recruitment for Multicultrual Professionals for Tomorrow A two-year assistantship package is offered to master's and doctoral students from families which have traditionally not had access to the opportunities of higher education and who, through his or her life, cultural and/or ethnic experiences, have unique and potentially positive contributions to make to the program, the discipline, and in the larger academic community. The Graduate School in alliance with participating academic departments supports the PROMPT Fellowship. Service is required. Tuition and monthly stipend. Dollar amount varies. Graduate School and Major Department.

Tuition Scholarship Based on scholarship and promise of success in graduate study. No service required. Tuition only Graduate School and Major Department.

Student Employment Must be enrolled at least half-time Prevailing minimum wage. Pay rate adjustments can be made for merit longevity, and excess qualifications. Financial Aid Office.

Federal Perkins Loan Based on financial need as determined from the FAFSA. Must be enrolled at least half-time. Must have application on file. Amount varies. 5% interest with repayment beginning 6 months after leaving school. Repayment schedule depends on borrowing status. Financial Aid Office.
