University Housing Apartments


University Housing offers apartments in four areas:

  • Wall & Grand Apartments
  • Elizabeth Apartments
  • Evergreen Terrace
  • Southern Hills

Wall & Grand apartments house SIUC students who are freshmen age 21 and older and sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students of any age. Elizabeth Apartments and Southern Hills apartments are reserved for single graduate students. Evergreen Terrace Apartments are reserved for married students, domestic partner students and students with children.

All apartments are air conditioned. Laundry facilities are located in each area. The Saluki Express bus stops at each location. Please visit the University Housing website for eligibility requirements, apartment details, rate information and to apply online.


Wall & Grand Apartments

Located on the corner of Wall Street and Grand Avenue, the new complex offers two & four bedroom furnished apartments.

Applications are maintained on a waiting list based on the date of application. Submit the application form early to increase your chances of obtaining a contract. Please review the contract terms, get more information or apply online on the University Housing website.


Elizabeth Apartments

Located at 800 South Elizabeth Street, Elizabeth Apartments is a two-story brick complex with 16 furnished efficiency apartments.

Applications are maintained on a waiting list. Please note that the waiting list is long for vacancies in this building. Submit the application form months in advance to increase your chances of obtaining a contract. Review the contract terms, get more information or apply online on the University Housing website.


Evergreen Terrace

Located on West Pleasant Hill Road, on the southwest side of campus, the Evergreen Terrace complex has 304 unfurnished apartments in 38 two-story buildings. Two-bedroom (2) and three-bedroom (3) apartments are available. Apartments modified to accommodate residents with mobility impairments are available.

This complex operates under the Department of Housing and Urban Development guidelines. All residents must provide income verification to establish eligibility. This is not Section 8 Housing.

Southern Hills

Located on South Wall Street, on the southeast side of campus, the Southern Hills complex has 272 furnished apartments in 17 two-story buildings. Efficiency (E), one-bedroom (1), and two-bedroom (2) apartments are available. Apartments modified to accommodate residents with mobility impairments are available.

What You Need To Know

University Housing Pet Policy
Fish are generally the only pets permitted in University Housing.

Academic Eligibility Requirements
Students must be enrolled full time for the semester for which housing is requested. Undergraduate students must complete a minimum of 24 hours and graduate students a minimum of 12 hours per year, including summer.

Contracts
Applications are maintained on a waiting list. Priority is based on the date your application is received. Approximately eight weeks prior to the semester for which you apply, a Screening Card will be mailed. The card must be completed and returned to the Contracts Office in order to remain on the waiting list and be considered for an apartment. Failure to return the Screening Card will result in cancellation of the application and removal from the waiting list. Contracts are mailed once an apartment becomes available. A prepayment is required. Residents are required to give a minimum of 90 days written notice when terminating the contract.
