Black History Month 2012 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale features poetry and film, history and ceremony, with the role of black women in the history and culture of the United States as its theme.
Among many other events, Joanne Braxton, Cummings Professor of English and Humanities at the College of William and Mary will present "Phillis and Her Daughters: Freedom through Literacy" Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in the John C. Guyon Auditorium, Morris Library.
