Beginning Fall 2011, newly entering freshman or transfer Undergraduate students who have parent(s) or legal guardian(s) who are graduates of Southern Illinois University Carbondale will pay an alternate tuition rate of 0.80 times the applicable in-state or out-of-state rate for Undergraduate students guaranteed for four years.

The application and supporting documents must be filed within 30 school days from the first day of classes during the term for which you are applying. Late applications can not be accepted. For Fall 2011, this date is October 4, 2011.
The alternate tuition rate will be 0.80 times the applicable in-state or out-of-state rate for Undergraduate students guaranteed for four years.
We will ensure that students who may qualify for more than one alternate tuition rate get the rate with the best financial benefit. (However, if you think you may qualify for the Legacy alternate tuition rate, even if you qualify for other alternate tuition rates, you must apply for it by no later than 30 school days from the start of your term of entry at SIUC.) When you apply to the SIUC, make sure you indicate that you are related to an SIUC graduate, using the checkbox on the application. Admitted students will receive an application for the Legacy Alternate Tuition Rate or download the Application for Legacy Alternate Tuition Rate here.
You will need to identify the alumnus to whom you are related, and provide documentation that connects you to your parent or legal guardian.
Yes. Graduate, Professional School and Physician Assistant Studies students are excluded.
No. Current students have already locked in a tuition rate that is guaranteed not to increase for four years because of the state's Truth In Tuition law. Only newly entering freshman and transfer undergraduate students are included. Re-entering Undergraduate students are not included.
Yes, although some international Undergraduate students may already qualify for an alternate tuition rate. Please contact International Admissions at intlinfn@siu.edu with any questions.
Maybe. Some newly enrolled Undergraduate students taking off-campus courses may qualify for this rate, depending on the rate structure for each program. Please contact Undergraduate Admissions at joinsiuc@siu.edu to inquire.
Children of SIU employees receive 50% off the tuition rate they are assessed.
