LD/ADHD Testing Information Sheet

1. As of July 1, 2005, the cost of LD/ADHD evaluation at SIUC’s Counseling Center was increased to a flat fee of $150.00 (which does not include the $6.00 fee for intake appointments).  Please note that this fee can only be paid with cash, or by having the amount charged to your bursar bill.  Currently, these are the only methods of payment available for Counseling Center services.

2. The demand for LD/ADHD evaluation is very high, and we have a limited number of clinicians providing this service.  Although every effort is made to schedule your testing in a timely fashion, you may experience significant wait time before you can be tested.  If you were referred by the Office of Disability Support Services (DSS), they may have opened a temporary file for you and may be providing you limited services.  If they haven’t and you need help, let your intake clinician know so we can help you with this.

3. The more availability and flexibility you have in your schedule, the more quickly we will be able to schedule your testing.  Please keep this in mind when you provide us with your schedule of availability.

4. We need to have accurate schedule and contact information from you.  If your phone number changes, notify us.  We must have current contact information in order to schedule you.  Also, when you are contacted about testing, please reply promptly.  The longer you take to get back to us, the longer your wait to complete your testing.  This also impacts others and increases the amount of time they will spend on the wait list.

5. It is essential that you keep any/all scheduled appointments.  Of course, if you are sick, you can call to cancel.  If you are too busy to be tested when we call, let us know and ask to be put back on the wait list.  Again, we have limited testing slots and need to fill them promptly so that people don’t wait more than is absolutely necessary.

6. If you do not respond promptly to our attempts to schedule you or you do not come for your scheduled appointment(-s), you can expect to be put back on the wait list, or your file may be closed.  We will go to the next person on the wait list who is ready and willing to come in.

7. The actual amount of test administration time varies with each student’s needs.  You can expect, however, for your total testing time to take a minimum of four hours, and, possibly, as many as twelve hours.  Testing can occur during an entire day or during several 4-hour blocks on multiple days.  Scheduling is dependent on yours and your counselor’s schedules.

8. After testing is complete and all assessment information has been obtained, the counselor will need time to score and interpret the tests, and to write a comprehensive report.  This report will explain any/all diagnoses, and any/all appropriate recommendations.  This report is a crucial part of the process, and takes a minimum of five weeks to complete once all of the assessment information has been obtained.

    • If you have questions, call either your intake counselor or Dr. William Todd at 453-5371.
