Two hundred years after Meriwether Lewis and William Clark set out on their transcontinental journey, a major multi-city museum exhibition will commemorate the expedition, the American tribes they encountered, and the landscapes they traversed. The National Bicentennial Exhibition will bring together, for the first time since 1806, rare handwritten journals, maps, equipment, American Indian artifacts and scientific specimens. The exhibit will begin in St. Louis and travel to Philadelphia, Denver, Portland, and Washington, D.C.
