SIUC's
Department of Agribusiness Economics (ABE) offers a Bachelor
of Science degree with two options: agricultural resource
management and applied economics. For those with an Associate
in Applied Science, you may want to read about the capstone
option.
The
Master
of Science degree offers two concentrations and a
concurrent degree program: agribusiness economics, agricultural
services, and the M.S./MBA concurrent degree.
A
Ph.D. in
Environmental Resources and Policy is also available.
This degree is offered in conjunction with the Departments
of Agribusiness Economics, Forestry,
Geography,
Geology,
and Plant, Soil
and Agricultural Systems. Other participants include
the College of Engineering
and the School of Law.
ABE
strives to provide a quality education that graduates
will need for a career in agribusiness without sacrificing
the personal attention, practical experience, and quality
of teaching students require as they prepare for their
chosen field. Career
opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate
degrees are being created at a quickening pace as we realize
the need to better utilize our natural resources and protect
our environment, improve our rural infrastructure, and
manage the activities of food production, processing,
and distribution firms in an international setting.
The Department consists of
eight faculty
and one staff member. On average, our undergraduate enrollment
reaches approximately 95 students and 25 for the graduate
program.
Agribusiness Economics is
located in the Agriculture Building on the Carbondale
campus of Southern Illinois University. We encourage you
to take a look at the SIUC visitor
information and tour the city
of Carbondale to learn more about the University and
the area in which it is located.
