• Prof. Izumi
Shimada is the new SIUC Outstanding Scholar. Dr. Shimada
joins our prestigious list of past recipients of this award,
including Jerome Handler, George Gumerman, Robert
Corruccini, and Prudence
Rice.
• Dan Bauer was named Outstanding Graduate Assistant in the Core Corruculum. He is the third of our graduate students to receive this award, following William Duncan and Chip Perkins.

• In December 2006, the Congress of Peru awarded Prof. Izumi Shimada the Gran Official medal for his ongoing archaeological work at Sican.

Matthew A. Tornow won the SIUC Outstanding
Dissertation Award in 2006.
