Socio-cultural anthropologists study the many societies of humans today, in all their complex aspects. Socio-cultural anthropology provides the tools to understand human behavior around the world and around the corner; it makes the familiar strange and strange familiar.
Sociocultural anthropologists in the program at SIUC study in Greece, Nigeria, Venezuela, Guatemala and Mexico, and in our own backyard in southern Illinois and the Mississippi Delta region, including New Orleans.
