Research on Food

I n this photograph we see a "traditional" Greek coffee shop where men pass the time in the afternoon. More and more of these coffee shops must fight for space with "Kafeterias" where young people, of both sexes, go to drink cappucino rather than the turkish/greek coffee of their parent's generation.

Y iorgos Mixas, fishing in front of his grandmother's house on the nearby island of Telendos, a small community that is part of the larger political entity of Kalymnos.

Though this is play for him, he is also learning to provide other sources of food for his family much in the same manner as his father.

The fish is taken fresh from the sea and prepared for everyone by his grandmother. Extras are given to neighbors, friends and passing tourists.
