Admission to the Graduate School of the UniversityVisit the Graduate School web site and complete the On-line Application. Admission to the Master of Architecture ProgramENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS Entrance to the program requires a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies degree or its equivalent. Each applicant will be reviewed individually in order to ascertain that all of the requirements for completing the accredited degree are fulfilled. In cases of transfer students, this may require that defined courses in the undergraduate program be completed prior to the awarding of the Master of Architecture degree. APPLICATION PROCESS Complete Graduate School Application. Use the links above to locate these resources. Portfolio of student and professional work · Examples of work should include design studio work, professional presentation drawings and any related expressions that demonstrate the applicant’s design and communication abilities. Professional work should include a statement from the employer stating the role of the applicant in the process and product of any submitted work. · Preferred sizes; 8 ˝” * 11” or 11” * 17” · Maximum number of pages: 25 · Maximum weight: 16 ounces · Covers and binding: simple and easy to read · Portfolios will be returned by mail to the applicant if a self-addressed stamped envelope is provided and the weight is 16 ounces or less. Portfolios will be held for pick-up by applicant for two months after a letter notifying applicant of decision has been mailed. After two months, portfolios not retrieved will be discarded. 2. Official transcript(s) from all previous university experiences 3. Three letters of recommendation from persons who can evaluate the applicant’s academic qualifications, motivation, and potential as an architect. 4. Statement of intent by the applicant - express academic and professional career goals and plans. 5. $45 application fee payable to SIUC Architecture 6. International applicants also need to supply the following; · TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores Minimum required score is 590 paper test and 243 computer-based test · Declaration and Certification of Finances for Admission to the Graduate College Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is NOT required for the Master of Architecture Program SELECTION CRITERIA Application materials are reviewed by the faculty of the School of Architecture. Each submission is evaluated individually and the decisions are based upon the quality of the portfolio, the strength of the academic record, the letters of recommendation, professional experience, and the commitment and clarity expressed in the letter of intent. |
