Facilities


To support students in their educational endeavors, school facilities include:

  • A Resource Library complete with books, reference texts, a sample room, current manufacturer's catalogs, and profession-related periodicals. This facility is staffed by a member of the department's staff, as well as by student workers.  
  • Modern computer facilities provide students the opportunity to develop profession-related application skills. The hardware includes networked Windows NT and XP stations, projection systems, and various input and output devices. The computer lab is maintained by a professional networking staff member, as well as a number of graduate assistants.  
  • A software subscription provides the latest releases of a full range of profession-related software applications, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop, SketchUP, and Adobe Photoshop. Fiber optic cabling provides access to the campus area network and the internet. Although not required, students are encouraged to provide their own laptop computer by the second year of the program.
  • A Woodworking/Model-Making Shop stocked with an array of power and hand tools. This facility is manned by a student worker trained in the use of the tools.  
  • A Photography Room equipped with backdrops and lighting for documenting student work.  

A senior studio provides each senior student an assigned work station for the year. Students are assigned building and room keys which provide them with unlimited access. the large open space within the studio encourages student interaction and provides informal jury presentation space. The computer facility is conveniently located for easy access to input and output devices.

Additional support services include the university honors program, faculty advisors, travel study programs, tutoring services for first-year students, workshops, and guest lectures. There is a wide range of student work positions available on campus for students who need to generate an income while attending school. In addition, there are a limited number of profession-related part-time jobs available in close proximity to the campus.
