Thank you for your inquiry into Southern Illinois University.  I appreciate the opportunity to provide you with a brief overview of the SIUC Electronic Systems Technologies with a specialization in Electronics Management degree program at MCAS, New River.

We began the EST program at New River in January of 1993, but have been aboard Camp Lejeune, Cherry Point, and New River for the last 29 years.

SIU offers the major courses for the BS in Electronic Systems Technologies with a specialization in Electronics Management.  We offer these courses in an alternating weekend format, usually every other weekend, on both Saturday and Sunday from 0800 - 1650.  There are 16 (3 semester hour) courses in the major, which can be completed in as little as 16 months.

In addition to the major taken with SIU, there are 31 semester hours of Approved Career Electives required.  We consider military service schools, prior work experience, and/or prior college courses that relate to the major for completion of this requirement.

Finally, there are 41 semester hours of University Core Curriculum required.  Again, we consider prior college course work and even some military service schools for completion of this area.

Neither Approved Career Electives nor University Core Curriculum have to be complete prior to beginning in the major, but we do require at least 26 semester hours of college level course work in order to begin, and technical proficiency in entry level electronics.  This can be any approved combination of sources indicated above.

I would enjoy an opportunity to continue our communications, by email or in person, at your convenience.  I am attaching a couple of items that may be of interest to you, and that may assist you in understanding our programs! If you would like to submit a full SMART Transcript (https://smart.cnet.navy.mil/) consisting of Transcript, Summery, and Academic Transcript, in PDF format, I would be happy to conduct an unofficial evaluation of your Military Education.

Again, Thank you for your interest in Southern Illinois University at MCAS New River. Please let me know if I can provide further information.

Regards,

Susie Langham
