Welcome to sunny Florida! I am looking forward to working with you. Below you will find some information to help you prepare for your journey and stay at Eglin AFB:

Okaloosa Regional Airport is approximately five miles from the base. Airlines served from Okaloosa Regional Airport are Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Comair, Delta Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and USAir Express. Ground transportation from the airport can be procured through Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz, and National.

Hampton Inn will be your lodging quarters. Reservations are made by our office prior to the semester starting. The Hampton Inn will only hold a room for 24 hours without a credit card. Our office will notify you with the temporary reservation number so you can follow-up with your credit card number to finalize the reservation.

Directions from Okaloosa-Regional Airport to the Hampton Inn:

Take the right lane when driving out of the airport.  This puts you onto the 85-bypass ( Government Road) which will take you all the way into Niceville.  When you come to a T-Junction you will be facing Highway 20 ( John Simms Parkway).  Go left and stay straight on John Sims Parkway approximately 5 miles. You will cross over one small bridge and one large bridge. After you cross the larger bridge Hampton Inn will be on your left. You can contact the Hampton Inn by calling (850) 897-4675.  Their address is 4400 Ansley Dr., Niceville FL 32578.

Directions to Eglin AFB East Gate from the Hampton Inn:

Turn right (east) on John Sims Parkway/HWY 20 and at the next light turn around heading the opposite direction (west) on John Sims Parkway/HWY 20. Stay on John Sims Parkway all the way and it will take you directly to the east gate entrance. When you arrive on base, stop at the gate to show identification, insurance, and registration. Provide your social security number to the person at the desk for your pass.  If they can not find your name on the list have them call the Law Enforcement (LE) desk. I deliver a hard copy to the LE desk a week prior to your arrival.

Classroom location is in the hospital training and education building. It’s equipped with a television, VHS/VCR, overhead projector, and whiteboard. We also have a computer with flash drive capability and Microsoft Office package installed.

Directions to the classroom from the East Gate:

Continue straight (about 5 miles west) on Eglin Blvd through the base. You will pass the flight line on your right; a few miles more you will pass a gas station on your right, and finally the base chapel on your left. Once you pass the base chapel, prepare yourself to make the last left before you exit the West Gate. Get into the left turn lane and turn left on Hatchee Rd.  Make your first right on to Boatner Rd.  Follow the road past three right turn offs (you will be driving by the hospital on your right).  Make a right at the fourth turn (the end of the hospital).  You will see a sign at the turn off for the Tricare office.   Drive straight until you come to the fourth building on the left (building 2830).  Building 2830 is your classroom.  The side walk approaching building 2830 will lead you straight in front of the appropriate door to enter.

Syllabus, handouts, tests, and materials must be coordinated with Ms. Betty Bishop, OCAP office six weeks prior to the beginning of your first class date for reproduction and shipment to our Eglin office. Ms. Pat Phillips can be contacted by email: patp@siu.edu, telephone: (618) 536-6609, or fax: (618) 453-8894.
