A message from:

Dr. Charla Lautar, Director
School of Allied Health

On behalf of our faculty, staff and on-campus students, I would like to welcome you to the School of Allied Health. The Health Care Management (HCM) program is offered at the Carbondale campus as well as at off-campus locations throughout the United States. Baccalaureate graduates of the Health Care Management program are prepared for entry level management and administrative positions in a myriad of health care and health care related jobs. Beginning job opportunities and career choices include working with government agencies, hospitals, outpatient facilities, insurance companies, ambulatory surgery centers, long-term care facilities, home health care, hospice services, physician practice management, and other health care organizations.

The Health Care Management program has a proud history with the military beginning classes on base in 1974 at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. Since then our graduates have gone on to become leaders in their field. In fact one of our graduates from the Great Lakes site, was promoted to Rear Admiral in 2004, and many more of our active duty graduates have received their commission and are currently serving as Medical Services Corps officers in all branches of the service. We are very proud of them and their accomplishments.

The faculty and staff of the Off-Campus Academic Programs (OCAP) are dedicated to meeting the educational needs of the health care professional. We hope that you enjoy your time as a Saluki and find your SIUC experience challenging and rewarding.
