Travel

Traveling to and from Champaign can be done either by air or car. For those traveling from the Chicago area you can also use Amtrak. Willard airport is located about 7 miles south of the city. Champaign is also served by Interstates 57, 74 and 72, all within approximately 3 miles of the campus. You can fly into Chicago O’Hare and drive approximately 2 hours south on I-57 or Indianapolis and drive the same time west on I-74. Keep in mind when making your arrangements that you may not get out of Willard airport until early Monday morning. If you fly into Indianapolis or Chicago and make the drive, you will have more options for departing on Sunday evening instead of staying over till Monday. Instructors will have to let the program advisor know what their travel plans are so appropriate housing reservations can be made. Travel reservations can be made through Thunderbird Travel in Carbondale. Their phone number is 800-437-8747 and talk to Cindy Synder.

Housing

Once you have confirmed your teaching assignment and we have your contract, hotel reservations will be made for you. Once reservations are made, we will notify you with the hotel, phone numbers, directions, and cost per night. If you need to cancel you will have to do so by 4 pm on the day of arrival.

Directions to Parkland

From the Holiday Inn or Ramada Inn:
Leave the hotel parking lot and take a right onto Lincoln Ave.
Go to the next traffic light and turn right again onto Bradley Ave.
Follow Bradley Ave. for approximately 5 miles.
At the intersection of Mattis Ave. and Bradley Ave. (Kraft plant on your left), continue straight ahead for 1/4 of mile.
Entrance to Parkland will be on the right. After you turn in immediately, turn back left and follow the drive around to parking lot C. The D wing will be in front of you as you turn into the lot.

Contact Info: In the event of an emergency, missed flight, late for class, etc. contact the Program Advisor, Susan Schwartz at (217) 373-3727.
