Scholarship Award Announcement

Purpose:

Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s College of Applied Sciences and Arts’ Off-Campus Academic Programs’ Scholarship Award was created to recognize and reward qualified Bachelor of Science degree students majoring in Aviation Management, Electronic Systems Technologies, Fire Science Management and Health Care Management who are enrolled in an ASA off-campus program.

The scholarship award is bestowed upon those who demonstrate a commitment and devotion to their chosen career fields. Individual recipients are selected on the basis of educational performance, work experience, career commitment, financial need, and references.

The program operates solely on donations from OCAP alumni, faculty, staff, and students.

Eligibility:

Recipients are selected without regard to race, sex, religion, or national origin.

Students are eligible to apply for the award if they:

1) have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours in their major.

2) maintain full-time enrollment in their major through the semester during which the award is granted.

3) maintain a 3.0 grade point average in their major.

4) provide a personal statement of financial need.

5) provide one letter of recommendation from a faculty member or current employer.

6) provide one additional letter of recommendation (excluding family members and SIUC employees or students).

7) type and complete the application using an original form; or complete the application form using an electronic copy and word processor without altering the application form.

8) Deadline for submission each semester:

Mailed submissions must be postmarked by the last teaching weekend of the first course of the semester
OR

Email by midnight Sunday of the last teaching weekend of the first course of the semester.
