| Welcome to the Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP). The ATEP has been developed to provide a truly exceptional educational, clinical, professional, and personal experience for motivated and committed students.
The SIUC ATEP is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and is an academic major that has been developed to fully prepare students to work as allied healthcare professionals in high school, college, or university athletics or sports programs, professional sports, sports medicine & rehabilitation clinics, fitness centers, or private industry. All students who successfully complete all requirements set forth by the SIUC ATEP will become eligible to take the Board of Certification examination in order to become a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). As one of the first ten programs of its kind in the world, we are proud of the SIUC ATEP's heritage and are always striving to build on the rich tradition of Saluki Athletic Training!
Although we pride ourselves on the legacy of SIUC Athletic Training, the SIUC ATEP is filled with exceptional faculty, staff and students. Additionally, our search for motivated and capable students never stops. For information about years gone by, check out our alumni section. We also have all the info you need regarding our current
