The Bursar's Office offers two options for students to have their financial aid refunds directly deposited
into an account. The two paperless options for students are: 1.) a traditional direct deposit of funds into
a bank account of their choice; or 2.) funds loaded into a Visa-backed debit card (i.e. the Saluki Cash Card).
Direct Deposit
Direct deposit is a safe, secure way to receive your refund. It eliminates waiting for the mail and any hassles
with check cashing. By enrolling in the direct deposit program, a student's refund is electronically transferred
into an individual's checking or savings account. Instead of receiving a paper check, direct deposit of refunds
gives you the quickest access to your funds. If you would like to enroll in direct deposit, please complete the
authorization form and return the form along with a voided check (with your name imprinted on it)
to the Bursar's Office.
Please note that this direct deposit form only applies to your Bursar refund check. For
information on direct deposit of your Student Employment check, please visit the
Payroll Department website. Saluki Cash
The Bursar's Office is pleased to introduce the Saluki Cash Card as another option for student refunds. Southern Illinois
University Carbondale has partnered with Illinois National Bank to offer a safe, convenient alternative to receiving
refunds. The Saluki Cash Card functions similar to a debit card, and is a Visa-backed card that can be used everywhere
the Visa logo is displayed. The card provides the University with a method to allow all students to receive their refund
electronically, even those without bank accounts. To sign up for a Saluki Cash Card, please visit the
Saluki Cash website.
If you elect to enroll in either direct deposit or the Saluki Cash Card, all student refunds (with the exception of
University payroll) will be deposited in that manner. If you sign up for the Saluki Cash Card, do not lose or
destroy your card, as this account will be reloaded each time there is a financial aid credit balance refund.
