023Catherine Caldwell , received a B.A. in Social Welfare from San Diego State University and an M.A. in EFL from SIUC. She has 17 years of teaching experience including 14 at CESL. Her research interests include materials development, particularly the use of the novel and video combination, and teacher training. She has presented workshops at regional and national conferences and is the author of two articles in TESOL's New Ways series. e-mail


cherylCheryl Ernst received her MA in TESL and BA in General Studies from Northern Arizona University. She has 11 years of teaching experience in programs in Finland, Japan and in several states, including Harvard University, University of Findlay, and University of Alaska Anchorage. She is professionally active, giving presentations and serving on professional committees at the local and national levels. Her most current research interest area is in ITA training and testing. Cheryl is currently a PhD student in Curriculum and Instruction at SIUC. e-mail

tlevThomas Leverett received his M.A. in Linguistics and TESL from the University of Iowa and his B.A. in Russian Studies and American History from Cornell College in Iowa. floydFloyd Olive
received his B.A. in English literature from LaSalle College in Philadelphia, an M.A. in English from SIUC in 1968 and an M.A. in EFL from SIUC in 1980. He has also taught at the SIUC Nakajo Campus in Japan. His interests are writing and CALL. e-mail

marilynMarilyn Rivers received her M.A. in Teaching EFL from Southern Illinois University and B.A. in Elementary Education from Harding University.  She has over 21 years of teaching experience, including 14 as an ESL lecturer in the CESL program. She has also taught English for the MBA in Harvard University's Institute of English Language summer program where she received two Excellence in Teaching awards. Her research interests are in the areas of ITA and teacher training and ESL reading. She has presented papers at regional and national conferences and has published several articles in TESOL's New Ways series. e-mail

colinColin Robinson holds an MA in Applied Linguistics and an MA in Spanish, both from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He received a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside. He received his TESOL Certificate from the University of California, Riverside, Extension. He has published an article regarding TA materials and has presented papers at regional and national ESL and foreign language conferences. His interests include TA mentoring, materials development, and ITA training. e-mail

Jessica MontgomerieJessica Montgomerie received her MA TESOL degree in December 2005 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She holds a BA in Theatre Arts and English from Illinois Wesleyan University. Jessica has three years of experience teaching ESL, both in the US and in Taiwan. Her current research interests are in web-based learning, an area in which she has made presentations at the international TESOL Conference. e-mail

heidiHeidi Wright received her MA in English Literature with concurrent studies in French and Spanish from the University of Rhode Island. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in TESOL from Missouri State University. Heidi's BA is in French and English, also from the University of Rhode Island. Heidi has worked in two IEP programs in the US: English Language Institute at Missouri State University and Drury University's IEP. She has also taught composition for one year in Saudi Arabia and oral communication courses for two years in France. Heidi has given several presentations at regional TESOL conferences and is in the process of writing a resource guide for ESL teachers. e-mail

julieJulie Bird received a B.A. in English and an M.A. in TESOL both from SIUC. She has 7 years teaching experience in the U.S. and Taiwan. Her interests include finding interesting and effective ways to teach reading and to get students involved and excited about learning English. kitaKita Sherrill, Microcomputer Support Specialist II, received her Associate of Arts degree in Word Processing from the College of Technical Careers at Southern Illinois University and a B.S. in Business Management at SIUC. She has 15 years of clerical experience, 10 years of computer programming experience, and has been with CESL for 15 years. e-mail

 

 

 

Tiffany Player is the CESL International Student Advisor and has been in the field of international education for more than 6 years. Her primary responsibilities include advising students on immigration, cross-cultural, academic and personal concerns, developing intercultural programs and services for the CESL community, and promoting departmental support for CESL across the SIU campus. Ms. Player has a B.A. from Rice University and will complete her M.A. degree in History in Spring 2007 from the University of Georgia. Her most recent training has been in the field of international education. She has received certificates in the following areas: Foundations of Intercultural Communication, Facilitating Intercultural Discovery, Exploring Cultural Values, and Learning Intercultural Concepts through Training. Prior to coming to CESL in September 2006, Ms. Player was the Coordinator for International Student Services at Loyola University New Orleans. e-mail
