Abstract

Nowadays, Wal-Mart is a hot issue not only because of protesting from the small retailers in the community but also because of new project to expand their field to banking service. As we all know, Wal-Mart is the well-known greatest company in the world, so their impact on the market, which they touch also, cannot help being greater than any others. This paper argues that before we allow Wal-Mart to move into banking service, we should consider several things and several things should be handled.

Second, Wal-Mart is a good innovator for economical development. Third, Wal-Mart is not criminal to the society. Wal-Mart has freedom to build its store anywhere customers want, and Wal-Mart has a good influence on society.

At present, there is a plan to build a new Wal-Mart supercenter in Murphysboro-Carbondale. However, residents in Murphysboro-Carbondale are conflicting with the birth of new Wal-Mart supercenter in their hometown because of the profit of their own job. We will argue about whether the new Wal-Mart supercenter is necessary in both of the cities or not with some problems brought by the new Wal-Mart supercenter in Murphysboro-Carbondale.

The biggest company in the U.S., Wal-Mart, was sued by more than 1.6 million employees because they felt they were discriminated against by Wal-Mart. However, Wal-Mart is denying any pattern of discrimination. There are several things that should be done for this problem. To solve it, the law should be changed, Wal-Mart should unify themselves, and Wal-Mart should accept this problem.

Today, there is a big issue about Wal-Mart and their health insurance. Many people suffer from Wal-Mart's health care system. In addition, the problem getting worse and bigger. Even if it is not a big problem, we have to think about what Wal-Mart did and is doing. I have several arguments. First, Wal-Mart has to raise their stipend and recognize their problems. Abstract- Eric Jang - Wal-Mart in Murphysboro-Carbondale

In 2003, Wal-Mart tried to build in Murphysboro even though the people did not need it. Wal-Mart did a morally wrong, like the secret with members of the public works committee. Therefore, Wal-Mart could build in Jackson County between Murphysboro and Carbondale. To know why the people who live in Murphysboro opposed to build in Murphysboro, and what the solution is. In conclusion, nobody can control Wal-Mart because of the capitalism. It is obvious that Wal-Mart gives us convenience, but we have to consider that the people are harmed by Wal-Mart. Moreover, the small town like Murphysboro will get more harm by Wal-Mart than other cities. Therefore, the government and inhabitants should find the ways to use Wal-Mart.

Abstract - Wal-Mart and Banking- by Kaori

Wal-Mart is trying to make a bank in their store now, but people who work in small banks and a few people reject this plan, because if Wal-Mart succeeds at their banking business, small bank may lose their customers or go out of business. However, there are a lot more benefits to making a bank in their stores for customers. Therefore, I should support making a bank there for three reasons. First, if Wal-Mart has a bank, we can buy goods at lower prices because they don't have to pay a charge to other banks. Next, we are a capitalism, so we can decide whatever we want to do, so it's good for customers. Finally, if Wal-Mart has a bank, it can sell market things and loan money in Wal-Mart, so customers have convenience by using loan money. Therefore, if Wal-Mart makes a bank in their stores, our life is going to be more comfortable and more convenient. People should encourage making a bank in Wal-Mart.

Ever since Wal-Mart opened its first store in Rogers, Arkansas in 1962 (Wal-Mart History Timeline, n.d.), Wal-Mart has expanded their stores steadily for over 40 years all over the United States and a few other foreign countries. By 2006, Wal-Mart has over four thousand stores in the United States. Almost every city has a Wal-Mart store or supercenter, except some major cities. At this point, it is not too much to say that Wal-Mart has settled down on the top of the distributing market in the United States. It is true that Wal-Mart brings convenience to customers by introducing cheaper price tags in our neighborhood. However, there are many local stores that have been closed down by loosing customers to this giant store. This has been a big issue to the small business owner, and society. Moreover, now Wal-Mart tries to enter the banking business. Will Wal-Mart bank becomes a reality true? What problem would occur if Wal-Mart starts a banking business? A Wal-Mart bank, could hurt local economy seriously. This is an urgent matter.

The conflict, problem, and solution between Wal-Mart and small businesses - By Kung

Wal-Mart's battle problem is one of important problems of Wal-Mart. The many causes of conflict between Wal-Mart and small businesses come from its marketing and pricing strategies. This paper argues that there are ways to resolve the Wal-Mart battle problem. First of all, Wal-Mart should create the public relations with communities. Wal-Mart should cooperate with local small business to make business together. Wal-Mart should arrange the characteristic of clear customer target groups. Wal-Mart should arrange different kinds of merchandise. Wal-Mart should do the research to know local people and local small business owner's needs exactly. Wal-Mart should adapt its size to be smaller. Finally, Wal-Mart should share some space both inside and outside of its store to arrange selling area to small businesses. These are just ways to help to reduce the conflict between Wal-Mart and small businesses. However, if Wal-Mart can solve this problem, it results in both Wal-Mart and small businesses to make business smoothly and the U.S.'s economic system is likely to be better than in the present.
